Nancy Casey stands by one of her oil paintings that are currently on display at Jacaranda Trace.
Nancy started painting only 10 years ago, taking lessons at Ringling Art Center, Sarasota and the Venice Art Center. She credits the downturn in the economy 10 years ago as the incentive for her new career. She was a real-estate agent and since the economy didn't give her much work she decided to take up painting.
"I have heard that painting is the new golf and I believe it," said Casey. She credits the Venice Art Center offering most of the lessons she has taken to help her on her new artistic career. "When life give you lemons, you make lemonade," she said. She even paints some of them along with her seascapes.
Her artwork will be on display until December 30th in the 2nd floor gallery of Cadbury Commons.
